An Interview with Vibram USA’s Tony Post

Dec 22, 2011 | 3 Comments

A few months ago, I asked for feedback in the form of a survey.  Several people suggested I start tapping my contacts in the running industry for some interviews.  It’s been a slow process, but here’s the first- an interview with Vibram USA president Tony Post.

Vibram, as many of you know, has been at the forefront of the barefoot and minimalist shoe movement.  Tony has a fascinating vision for the future of minimalism, which he Read More...

Vibram Five Fingers SeeYa Review: The Best VFF Since the KSO?

Dec 10, 2011 | 7 Comments

I’ve had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Five Fingers.  When I started barefoot running, they did not exist.  My minimalist shoes consisted of a collection of ill-fitting aqua socks.  When Barefoot Ted first wrote about them back in 2006 or so, I immediately bought a pair- black KSOs.

The shoes were awesome!  The fit was far superior to the aqua socks and they lasted more than 100 miles.  I wore them for Read More...

Vibram Five Fingers Very Premature Review

Yes, yes, I know I vowed to abandon Vibram awhile ago.  I just couldn’t resist the urge to try out their new Komodos.  They look pretty cool, which was one of the reasons I was tempted.  The color scheme matches my school’s colors, so I plan to wear these to work on occasion.  Gotta have school spirit!

I think these Read More...

Five Fingers… I’m Just Not That Into You Anymore…

Vibram, I’m sorry.  It’s me, not you.  Really.  We had some good times.  I just think we’re heading in different directions.  I mean, I really appreciate everything you’ve done.  For a few years, you were the one.  You captured my heart.  But then you changed.  You started getting… you know… bigger.  You started adorning yourself a little to much.  I liked you when you were simple.  You were everything I needed and wanted.  Now… I’m not so sure.  Read More...

Vibram Five Fingers KSO review

Feb 27, 2010 | 14 Comments

Vibrams’s Five Fingers KSO is the current gold-standard by which all other minimalist shoes are measured. I have used this shoe extensively for about three years in many different conditions. It is my default gym shoe, my winter running shoe, my asphalt-too-hot-for-barefoot shoe, and the shoe I wore to finish my first 100 mile race in September of 2009. This model has served me well and is still my preferred minimalist shoe, but does suffer from some Read More...

100 mile training

Aug 31, 2009 | 2 Comments

Here’s a brief update on my training. I have 26 days left until Hallucination. The training has went well thus far- no injuries to report. My training mileage has been pretty good- 45, 65, 81, 31, and 71 over the last five weeks. This week will likely be somewhere in the ballpark of 50 miles as I start a gradual taper over the next four weeks.

Mt crew is coming along. This last week, about Read More...
