The Newbie Barefoot Runner Turning Purist… Let’s Give Them A Break

Dec 9, 2010 | 6 Comments

There are two types of barefoot running purists, both have similar behaviors.  Both groups admonish the use of shoes.

One group consists of long-time barefoot runners with thousands of miles of experience.  This group generally shuns shoes based on their collective experience.  The would have accomplished great feats barefoot.  Off the top of my head, I can think of three people that fit this category- Rick Roeber, Jason Spooner, and Victor Palma.  Their point of view, […]

Donald of the excellent Running and Rambling blog recently reviewed the second edition of my book.  I chuckled toward the end of the review when Donald noted the disjointed nature of the second […]

The Fervor of the Day Job and Other News

This past Tuesday, school started.  I have spent the week adjusting to the rigors that come at the onset of the school year.  This equates to less time available for my running adventures.  I do not have time to run or write about running.  My days are filled with frantic lesson planning, learning to guide the energy of 140 or so freshmen, and contending with my own children as they readjust to our new schedule.

Running has taken a back seat.  […]
