Hello again BRU students. For those who don’t remember me, what the hell is wrong with you! I […]
Here’s a situation that pops up all too often. You try running barefoot and/or in minimalist shoes. You see that you’ve been encasing your feet in cushioned foot coffins since your youth and your feet have suffered. You don’t want your children to suffer the same fate, so you begin investigating the available options. Much to your surprise, the kids’ minimalist shoe market is virtually non-existent.
Merrell is on the brink of releasing their Barefoot Kids line of […]
Need a bad-ass shoe for bad-ass conditions? Inov-8’s Bare-Grip 200 fits the bill. This shoe is definitely the most aggressive minimalist shoe on the market today.
Based on my theory of using shoes as tools, the Bare-Grip 200 occupies a niche at the far end of the “gnarly” spectrum. This shoe is essentially a cleat, meaning it is not designed for roads, sidewalks, or even hard-packed trails. This shoe is designed for slop. I would like to see a […]

I get a lot of requests for minimalist shoe recommendations. I always approach these requests with trepidation. Why? We’re all individuals. I can give you some advice on the appropriate shoe, but ultimately you have to experiment to find what works best for you.
I recommend everyone use the following method to determine your ideal minimalist shoe. Note- this is the plan I use. I will always prefer to be barefoot and only use this method when selecting shoes for conditions […]
Merrell’s Pace Glove shoe part of their new line of barefoot-inspired minimalist shoes. I recently reviewed the awesome Trail Glove. The Pace is the female running shoe counterpart to the Trail Glove. Shelly has been testing this shoe for several months. Before I dive into the details of the shoe, it may be worthwhile to review Shelly’s running history.
Shelly was my original inspiration to begin running in the first […]
After I posted my review of Merrell’s Trail Glove, I was inundated with questions. The most common- how wide are the shoes? Since a simple measurement may not be too informative, I took a topside picture of most of my shoe collection. Enjoy!
[Edit- check out Pete Larson of runblogger.com… he just received a pair of Trail Gloves and will be reviewing them shortly]
