Mind the Ducks 2010 Race Report

“Hmmm… what would it be like to see someone get Tased?” I pondered as Mark vaulted from the car.  The squad of Customs officers seemed to spring from nowhere amid the frantic orders of “SCOTT, GET BACK IN THE CAR!”  It was at this point I anointed this the sweetest road trip ever.  The next 48 hours would repeatedly reinforce that title.  Let’s start at the beginning.

Mind the Ducks… and the winner is…

Well, the Mind the Ducks 12 Hour was a huge success!  Our barefoot/minimalist shoe crew did extremely well.  Jesse Scott racked up 65 miles in VFFs, good for second in the open age group and sixth overall.  Mark Robillard ran for 51.5, about 17 in Injinji socks.  This was Mark’s first-ever quasi-barefoot running.  I’ll elaborate on this in the official race report.  Shelly ran 41 miles in VFFs.  All three nearly DOUBLED their previous long run…. ever!   This was Shelly Read More...

The Guinness World Record Largest Barefoot Race, Mind the Ducks, and General Barefoot Ramblings

Today is the eve of the Barefoot Runners Society “Largest Barefoot Race” where we will set the Guinness World Record.  I have been fretting over the details of the event for weeks and am finally getting excited!  The world record aspect of the event seems relatively minor.  I’m excited about having the opportunity to meet many of my Runners World Barefoot Running Forum friends AND many local runners.
