April 4, 2012Hi, Jason,
I started running with Merrell’s barefoot shoe about six months ago (did intervals and built up slowly as I am 69 years old). Had great success and liked running for the first time in my life. But now I have a metatarsal stress fracture and have to rest my foot at least 4 weeks. My question is – am I done with barefoot style running? I hate to have to go back to “regular” running shoes. They look and feel clunky after the Merrells. Any advice would be appreciated. I live in Kansas City and don’t imagine you’re ever here for a clinic.

September 13, 2012I’m 18 months into barefoot lifestyle during which I progressed to no-shoes running after doing Nike Free/Merrell Barefoot/Vivo Barefoot shod running. I started from scratch as I’ve never been able to run correctly due to affects of a slightly clubbed foot at birth.
Six months is not very long when you think of how long we’ve walked and ran shod; not very long at all.
Chances are (assuming your form is correct) that you’re still in adjustment.
I have now done 2 months running without shoes and have to say , I can’t go back. My feet are still getting stronger after all this time and form comes completely naturally.
Having said all of that, I’m still only doing a 10 minute warm up and 15 minutes of intervals to get my speed up.
Slowly, slowly catchy monkey.

March 25, 2012Hi Jason,
my wife and I are going to be at Zombie Runner on April 7th and I am very excited to meet you. Is Shelly going to be there? I hope so. I would like to meet both of you. Anyway I am going to try to get some of my running friends to come.
