The Seaway 15K went well.  Finish time was 1:04:58 (36th out of about 340ish.)  Lynette, you’re the book winner!  Email a mailing address to robillardj “at” gmail “dot” com ASAP.

The race started very well.  I was on pace to easily break my PR of 1:03 and some change.  I was very close to my 5K PR for the first third of this race.  Things were going well until about mile 5 or six.  I could feel four separate hotspots forming Read More...

Why I Love Barefoot Running

Mar 13, 2010 | 8 Comments

After spending the winter running indoors or suffering with my feet being wrapped in some type of minimalist shoes, I finally got a chance to do a trail run on dirt with Shelly (check out her blog here).  I wouldn’t even classify it as a run.  It was two and a half hours of playing.  The feeling of the trails on my soles was simply euphoric.  Sometimes people ask why I run barefoot.  My first instinct is rattle off Read More...

The Vibram / Top of Foot Pain Connection?

Feb 15, 2010 | 10 Comments

I’ve officially begun my next training cycle.  My goal race- Mind the Ducks 12 Hour in Rochester, NY on May 15th.  Training for this race will require something I have historically avoided- lots of miles on flat, smooth ground.  I love trails… so much so, it’s all I’ve done this winter.  For whatever reason, I decided to go for a long run earl Sunday morning.  I woke up at 3:30 and was out the door by about 4:00.
