As always, Shelly and I have been searching out new adventures. Over the last six months or so, we’ve been playing around with the “life coaching” idea with friends and acquaintances that were interested in our ideas for living somewhat unconventional lives.
Over the last four years or so, we’ve been on a mission to gain as much freedom as possible to live lives that truly excite us. There’s something about quitting a supposedly secure career to live on the road with three small children that puts life in perspective. We’ve learned many lessons that could help anyone live more exciting lives regardless of how they define “exciting.”
That, our experiences as teachers, my background in psychology, and our undying curiosity about human behavior, has given us a rather unique perspective.
We did some research on other life coaches. It turns out “life coaching’ is a lot like running coaches or physical trainers. There are a few different perspectives which use somewhat different theoretical models… but there’s not a lot of variety. Worse, most of it seemed to be nothing more than muffins wrapped in rainbows “you’re a wonderful person” crap… which may work very well for some.
Unfortunately that “Pollyanna” approach isn’t for everyone. If Shelly and I were seeking out life coaching advice, most would make us puke. We’d want someone that would keep it real. Call it like it is. Give us straight-forward guidance… even if there’s a chance it could be brutal.
Our solution- Death Coaches.
Yeah, it sounds a little morbid… but so is our sense of humor. If we were going to do this, we wanted to do it our way. This seemed appropriate.
so what do we do?
We basically offer the same stuff traditional life coaches offer, like help:
- Living a more exciting life,
- Reaching goals,
- Improving relationship communication,
- Improving sex life,
- Improving your career,
- …and pretty much anything else related to these topics.
Basically we’re here to help people if they feel like they’re drowning. Or want to make a major life change but need some affirmations and a sympathetic ear. We’re sort of like tech guys that help you reformat your lifestyle. Our methods are a lot like the methods I use with the BRUcrew Facebook group (join the group for a sample.)
