BRUcrew Update: A Journey to Become More Social, Courageous, and Empathic. Or Awesome.
Last week I wrote a post the BRUcrew idea, then a follow-up post explaining how to overcome the fears associated with the challenges. So far, we’ve had six challenges, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The Facebook group (where the challenges are posted) has about 80 members, most of which have done at least a few of the challenges.
The challenges themselves have ranged from the physically difficult (50 burpees), to the embarrassing (20 pushups in a grocery store), to the personally uncomfortable (no underwear for a day… which isn’t necessarily uncomfortable for some if us.)
We’ve even included a challenge to brighten other people’s day (hand out six roses to random strangers.)
The participants that have fully embraced the idea are bravely completing each challenge. Some have expressed their fears, and others have helped reassure them. The discussions have been great. It’s turning into a pretty cool community!
In the coming weeks, I’ll continue to post challenges. I have some great ideas, and I’m already getting awesome ideas from the community. If you’re interested in overcoming your fears to live a more exciting life, join up and start doing the challenges!
I’m also getting close to organizing the BRUcrew meetup group here in San Diego. Details will be coming soon.
