I love working with Merrell for a variety of reasons- the organization is filled with cool people, they produce great shoes, and they are serious about teaching people to run with better form. One reason really stands out- they actively work to get people outside.
To that end, they recently introduced a grant program that offers $2500 to ten individuals or organizations that have an innovative, impactful, and sustainable projects geared toward helping promote active, outdoor activities.
Our society likes to complain about people being inactive, kids playing video games instead of enjoying the outdoors, or our expanding waistlines. Yet few people actually do something to correct the problem. When Shelly and I decided to hit the road, a major motivator was to become more active personally and hopefully motivate others to do the same.
This program excites me because it focuses on creating leaders. I would highly encourage anyone and everyone to give this program serious though- how can YOU motivate people to get outside and create amazing adventures? Ten of you can win $2500 to make that happen.
Use your imagination.
Make a difference.
Become a leader.
