HUFF 50k Race Report
This isn’t my typical race report… this one is succinct.
Instead of spending a lot of time writing, I’ve been experimenting with video editing. I may post a longer report in the near future. In the interim, here’s a brief description of the HUFF 50k and the accompanying video.
Shelly and I were looking forward to this road trip to Indiana to run the HUFF 50k. Mark Robillard, our friend and my unofficial brother, had been out of the country visiting Italy. He proved to be the glue that bonds our Hobby Jogga group as the rest of us weren’t capable of organizing any sort of meetup. It had been over two weeks since we last met. Besides Shelly, Mark, and I, Jesse Scott rode with us and we met Rick Robbins in Huntington (site of the race).
We drove to Indiana, went to the hotel, grabbed dinner, slept, woke up, ran, ate, drank, ate more, went to bed, woke up, ate again, then headed home. The entire trip was filled with our typical Hobby Jogga dumb-assery… most of which is too offensive to post online.
The race was cold, but went well. With the exception of Jesse, this was the first 50k any of us had ever run. It’s an interesting distance… I can’t say I especially like it. I definitely prefer the longer, slower-paced races. Despite this, we all did pretty well. Jesse ended up placing 15th overall in a field of over 300. The rest of us had fun.
Anyway, here’s the video:

December 24, 2010Duncan, the 4:3 video was shot with a Canon Sureshot 1300is point n’ shoot; the 16:9 video was shot with a Canon T2i DSRL. The audio was captured with the on-camera microphones. We’re still learning the ropes of the T2i. I was generally pleased given the lower lighting we had to work with most of the time.

December 23, 2010Jeremy- Here is an example of our humor. We watched this video in the hotel room, laughing like the 12 year old’s we are.

December 22, 2010You often mention how offensive your sense of humour is. I want to hear at least a sample!
