Western States 2011 and Other Excitement
This weekend, I was selected in the 2011 Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run lottery. I won the opportunity to run 100 miles starting June 25th. For those that are not familiar with the race, it is more or less the Boston Marathon of the ultrarunning world. I’m pretty sure parts of this video are from the WS course:

It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it…
The lottery represented the official end of my off-season. It’s time to kick my candy habit, begin crosstraining, and begin base-building. I’ll be sharing plenty of training details in the coming weeks.
My future plans were hinging on the lottery. Now that this unknown is resolved, everything else can begin falling into place. It is an exciting time for my family as we prepare to embark on some great adventures!
In other news, I just completed a great video series that will help teach good running form. It was a ton of fun and I had the opportunity to meet some great people. The videos will be available for viewing in early February.
On that note, I think I found my new obsessive hobby- videography. Anyone have any good ideas on methods to learn more?

December 6, 2010Congratulations! I can’t wait to hear all about your training and the actual race! And Feb seems like a long time away. I’m excited to see your videos. Your strategy for footwear for the race seems like a good plan. Again, congrats!

I thought it was funny about the videography – I was just looking at small video camera’s I could take with me so I could blog at events and stuff

December 5, 2010Jason, that’s awesome. Now the real question: Will you run the whole thing barefoot?

Are you going out with the goal of all 100 barefoot? Or do you have some shoe choices lined up, like the 190s?
